Hi – I have this webm playing and working nicely on my site
[arve url=”https://linx.software/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Video1-1.webm” width=”1000px” parameters=”title=0&byline=0&portrait=0&loop=1&controls=0″ autoplay=”true” controls=”false” loop=”true” maxwidth=”1000px” align=”center”/]
However it doesn’t load anything on iPhone or safari (desktop)
How do you add a file (gif, jpeg or even youtube video) to play only for Mac?
I do not want to mess with the webm as the original or preferred file choice for the page (file size, display etc are perfect as is, I just an alternative for Mac).
You did not put in what version of Safari you use. The first thing that came up in my search is this https://9to5mac.com/2021/02/18/apple-adds-webm-video-playback-support-to-safari-with-macos-big-sur-11-3/. Is seems it was added around feb. this year. At least this is where this news is posted.
Did you try to open the .webm file directly with the Safari brower? If your browser is outdated you need to encode the video with x264 in a .mp4 container. Something that all browsers can play.
Also the parameters=”…” you used do not work when pointing to a video file. These are for Vimeo or YouTube.
And ARVE does not deal with images. As for gif, its a outdated format and you should use a video without sound just like you did instead.
